In the wake of a devastating 6.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Morocco on September 8, 2023, communities across the affected regions are still facing unprecedented challenges. The MTJ Foundation has swiftly mobilized its resources to provide critical aid and relief. We are continuously seeking support from generous donors to amplify our efforts in aiding those in distress.

The earthquake was felt across a wide expanse, affecting communities in Al-Haouz, Ouarzazate, Marrakesh, Azilal, Chichaoua and Taroudant. Reports indicate that there has been significant structural damage to buildings and infrastructure, as well as severe disruptions in essential services. The epicentre of the earthquake was in the remote towns of the High Atlas mountains region. Many of those that were killed once resided in said areas.
