A Generation Struggling to Read: For those who do attend school, learning poverty is a major obstacle. 65% of students do not reach basic reading proficiency by the end of primary school. Before the pandemic, 75% of 10-year-olds could not read and understand a simple text, leaving them far behind their peers.
A Broken Education System: Systemic inequities have left rural and low-income children with poor infrastructure, untrained teachers, and scarce resources. In 2022, the crisis deepened as over 30,000 schools were damaged or destroyed, disrupting education for thousands.
MTJ Foundation is working tirelessly to remove the barriers to education in Pakistan.
Through our school construction and renovation initiatives, we give students a safe learning space. Our scholarship programs offer tuition fees, supplies, and boarding to students from low-income families. We supply students with essential learning materials to support their education. For children who aspire to be scholars, we offer Alim education in Madaris across Pakistan.
But our vision goes beyond immediate relief. With increased funding, we aim to expand our impact, reaching more underserved regions across Pakistan. Our goal is to:
- Build and renovate more schools in remote areas.
- Expand scholarship programs to college and university students.
- Introduce online classes and digital literacy programs.
- Develop a teacher training initiative.
- Launch vocational training programs to equip older students with life-skill training.
